Need of Program

In many government and low-income private schools work hard to educate underprivileged children, they often lack basic infrastructure. Classrooms without electricity, schools without safe drinking water, poor sanitation facilities especially for girls and the absence of computer labs or digital tools make it difficult to retain students and offer quality education.

In tribal and rural areas, these challenges are more severe. Without proper infrastructure, even the most motivated children struggle to stay in school, leading to absenteeism, dropouts, and poor academic performance. To address these critical barriers, Pragatee Foundation launched the School Infrastructure Support initiative under its Disha Project.

Program Objective

To create a child-friendly, safe, and conducive learning environment in rural and under-resourced schools by:

  • Providing essential infrastructure facilities

  • Enhancing digital access through computer labs

  • Improving hygiene and sanitation facilities, especially for girl students

  • Encouraging school attendance, retention, and learning outcomes through better environments

Project Activities

  • Computer Lab Setup – Supplying computers, UPS systems, basic furniture, and digital literacy tools to introduce technology in learning.

  • Water Purifier Installation – Ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water to prevent illness and absenteeism.

  • Solar Power Installation – Equipping schools with solar panels to provide uninterrupted electricity in areas with low power supply

  • Construction & Renovation of Toilets – Building or upgrading hygienic toilet blocks, particularly for girl students to promote dignity and attendance.

  • Classroom Improvement – Basic civil repair work, blackboards, benches, and lighting to improve the teaching-learning environment.

  • Provision of Basic Amenities – Fans, tube lights, water tanks, and safe storage facilities.
